Laboratory

The Clinical Laboratory provides physicians with concrete data they use to determine diagnoses. Some tests performed in the laboratory take only a few minutes, yet many others take hours and even days to perform, analyze, read and report. Automation and robotics enable larger numbers of specimens to be processed and analyzed; this results in greater efficiency, prompt resulting and improved patient care. Despite all the cutting edge technology, some tests must still be performed manually. Observations may be made with a microscope, and some specimens are tested by traditional manual methods.
Once a specimen arrives in the laboratory, it is acknowledged in the computer system, and delivered to the appropriate laboratory sections.
